On April 10, 2025, the third edition of the Logistics & Delivery Lunch Event was held. An inspiring afternoon where logistics professionals gathered to discover how AI is already making an impact in logistics and delivery today. Not vague futuristic concepts, but concrete practical examples, honest stories, and insights into how AI and people can work together more efficiently, smarter, and more effectively.
With speakers from DHL Express, BrainCreators, and of course RoutiGo, it became clear: AI is not an end in itself, but a smart tool – provided you know what problem you want to solve with it.
From hype to application:
What we learned from the speakers
Optimizing address data with AI
Luc Jeurissen (DHL Express)
Luc Jeurissen demonstrated how DHL Express uses AI to improve the quality of address data by automatically recognizing and correcting incorrect or incomplete addresses. An interesting detail: this was one of the first AI solutions we developed together – and it remains a powerful example of how AI tangibly contributes to more reliable deliveries.
His story showed how AI-driven optimization of address data works in practice and its impact on delivery reliability.
“AI helps us to structurally improve error-prone processes. But it starts with the right question: what is your biggest bottleneck?”
Beyond the hype
Jasper Wognum (BrainCreators)
Jasper Wognum took us into the reality of AI. He debunked misconceptions – such as the idea that AI only works with massive amounts of data – and showed that success primarily revolves around strategic choices and starting small.
“AI is not a magic bullet. Start with a clear problem, test on a small scale, and build from there.”
AI in route planning and customer communication
Melle Sprenger (RoutiGo)
RoutiGo's own Melle Sprenger showed how AI helps planners make better choices – not by taking over, but by providing insights.
AI reveals why a particular plan works or doesn't work. Think of outliers, bottlenecks, or hidden dependencies. Instead of a black box, the system shows exactly where you can best make adjustments to plan more efficiently.
“Even the best route planning fails if planners don't trust the algorithm. AI must not only be smart, but also explainable.”
Knowledge and connections
After the substantive program, the presentation of the Logistics & Delivery Lunch Event Award. During the interactive session AI – from Vision to Practice, guided by Anick Quee (RoutiGo), we collectively gathered ideas on how AI can be practically applied in logistics. The best idea was rewarded with a 3D-printed award – a moment of recognition and inspiration.
Afterwards, there was plenty of opportunity to chat during the drinks reception. Conversations extended beyond the program – covering challenges, ideas, and collaborations. This is precisely the added value RoutiGo aims to provide with this event: knowledge sharing, connection, and room for new ideas.
And now, looking ahead:
