Do you have sufficient insight into and control over your operation? We recently answered these questions in our workshop 'How good is my delivery operation'. Couldn't make it? Don't worry; on May 29th, you'll have another chance to attend the workshop. Curious about tips & tricks already? Then read on.
Cities are getting more crowded & customers expect more
The world is changing rapidly, and logistics must keep pace. We are building more and more homes close together, all on the same land area. From a logistics perspective, this brings many challenges. At the same time, consumers are demanding more and more from us. They want to be served immediately and are already quite 'spoiled'. Many organizations struggle with this. How do you communicate with the recipient, to what extent do you involve them in the delivery process, and how do you meet their demands without your margins suffering?

Define the right metrics
Insight into your current delivery operation provides answers. How are you currently performing in these areas, and where is there room for improvement? That insight sounds good, but how do you actually obtain it? Which numbers should you look at? Suppose you focus on the number of stops your delivery drivers make per hour. Do you measure the number of stops on a weekday Tuesday afternoon or during Friday evening rush hour? Suppose you focus on the time your driver returns. What exactly does that tell you? Maybe your driver returned early, but their van is still full of undelivered packages... Our tips & tricks?
- Start measuring.
- Choose a metric that makes your objective measurable.
- Also determine a counter-metric.
This way, you gain honest and complete insight into your operation.
The person you're visiting comes first!
Is it all just about numbers? Absolutely not. Always put people first. Both the deliverer and the recipient. And experiment and learn. That's the only way you'll progress. Looking for more tips and practical examples? Then you won't want to miss the second edition of this workshop. Register here !
