Probleem

Froot had to plan many stops over multiple routes. With Google Maps and Excel, this no longer worked.

Doel

Automatically plan optimal routes and stops in a simple way.

Resultaat

From planning days to checking and done

Planning routes efficiently? Jan Willen Hoek van Froot didn't have to think about that for long. Froot delivers fruit to companies. In addition, they not only pay attention to the quality of the products, but also pay a lot of attention to the presentation and service. Jan Willem Hoek, co-owner of Froot: “Just putting some apples and pears somewhere doesn't immediately make you a sympathetic, vital employer. Every employee should be able to access it easily and it just has to look good; after all, it's important to look good. Moreover, we go the extra mile when it comes to service. For example, a sick colleague receives a free improvement package. And everything, of course, in the customer's corporate identity. All that fruit must be delivered on time. That no longer worked with Excel. Now that we're working with RoutiGo, everything runs a lot smoother. '

Plan multiple routes in no time

When Jan Willem and Jeroen Beekman started Froot in 2017, they planned the route themselves. Jan Willem: “At first, that went well. You'll be working with Excel, Google Maps and a small online planning program and you'll have two or three routes planned in no time. But the more routes you get, the harder it gets. At some point, you just lose the overview. Then you suddenly have two trips to The Hague and three buses that are in Amsterdam. So how efficient are those routes still? I have no idea. And all I'm talking about is the Randstad. '

Get rid of that file

“Apart from the fact that the way of planning was becoming increasingly inefficient, we couldn't really take customer needs into account anymore. And that's what it's all about. That's why we switched to RoutiGo's planning software, in combination with track and trace in our buses. The customer would prefer to have his fruit as early as possible on Monday morning. That's why we start extremely early: a large part of our buses are already on the road before six, before the traffic jam. When half of the Netherlands is in traffic to Amsterdam, we have already delivered our crates there. So when people arrive at the office, — in most cases — the fruit is already ready. The last crate will be delivered no later than three in the afternoon, so that our drivers also drive back to our location in Alphen aan den Rijn before the traffic jam. '

Estimate when your routes will fill up

'Getting out of a traffic jam has two additional advantages. When our buses are not stuck in traffic, they also emit less nitrogen. Moreover, planning that is as efficient as possible also ensures happy drivers. If they are not stuck in traffic, that also means that they are more likely to be home with their family. What's also great is that the Routigo software is good at estimating when the routes are filling up and when it's time to think about an extra bus. We are now working to link RoutiGo to our business processes. This way, we can further automate planning. We'll be working on that soon and it looks promising. '
